The Director of the National Zoological Gardens, Thilak Premakantha told the Sunday Times online that they have planned to open a new mini zoo and a conservation center within the Ridyagama Safri Park at Hambantota.
He said that they have focused to chileren friendly activities within the new mini zoo such as bird feeding programmes, opportunity to have close encounters with animals.
Apart from that a fish spa would also be operational within the mini zoo.
Mr Preamakantha also added that they have also planned to open an animal conservation center which would focused on conserving t endangered animals Slow Loris, Indian Pangolin.
He added that they have planned to declare open the mini zoo and conservation center on October 04, 2022 with the participation of the Minister of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation, Mahinda Amaraweera.
