The Colombo Port City Economic Commission Bill was passed with amendments by a majority of 91 votes in Parliament this evening.
The Bill received 159 votes at the Third Reading, while 58 votes were cast against. Accordingly, the Bill passed with a majority of 91 votes.
A total of 158 MPs supported the Bill during the vote on its Second Reading while 59 opposed.
During the Second Reading, the Government presented the Bill with amendments at the Committee of the Whole Parliament. Amendments proposed by the Opposition were rejected by the Government. Accordingly, a division was called for and voting took place in three occasions at the Committee Stage.
