Newly-appointed Governor of the Central Bank Dr. Nandasena Weerasinghe said on Wednesday he would resign if there was no political stability in coming weeks.
He told reporters he has informed the authorities of this move. Dr. Weerasinghe said the crisis has worsened and power cuts may have to be increased due to the forex situation.
Dr. Weerasinghe was appointed on April 7, 2022 and at his first news briefing, he said he has the support of both the government and the opposition to resurrect Sri Lanka from the forex mess.
