Ceylinco Life conducts free medical camps in Wellawaya and Tissamaharama

News

More than 250 people received free access to doctors and underwent potentially life-saving health screenings at two more medical camps recently in Wellawaya and Tissamaharama under the ‘Waidya Hamuwa’ (Meet the doctor) community health initiative of Ceylinco Life.

Earlier this year, Ceylinco Life also conducted a free medical camp at the Raja Maha Vihara in Dehiwatta Seruwawila in the Trincomalee District, which benefitted 152 people from the local farming community, according to a company media release.

Each Waidya Hamuwa medical camp offers doctor consultations and check-ups, and where necessary, health screenings and tests for hypertension, diabetes, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cholesterol, as well as heart disease by way of electrocardiograms (ECGs).

To date, Ceylinco Life’s Waidya Hamuwa programme has benefitted more than 146,000 people via 390 ‘Waidya Hamuwa’ camps across the country. These medical camps are conducted by qualified and experienced doctors and nursing staff attached to the state health sector and private laboratories, and professional opticians. The company said it would continue to conduct similar programmes in other parts of the country in the second half of 2022 too.
