Communist Party salutes to its Comrade Collure

The Political Bureau of Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka (CPSL) said it salutes, with the deepest sorrow and gratitude for what late Raja Collure had done for the cause of the Party and the working-class movement.

Issuing a statement, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka announced the passing away of Comrade Raja Collure former President and General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka.

He served as the Governor of the Uva and North Central Provinces. The Party dips its Red Banner in his honour and salutes to him for all what he had done for the cause of National, Social, and Human Liberation, Specialist Dr G. Weerasinghe, General Secretary of CPSL said in a statement. 

The cremation takes place at the Borella Cemetry on December 7th, 2021 at 5.00 pm. Comrade Collure joined the Communist Party in 1959 as an active member of the Ceylon National Student Union of which he later served as General Secretary.

He was elected to the Central Committee in 1972 and there after to the Politcal Bureau and appointed as General Secretary.

He was a member of the Editorial Board of World Marxist Review. He also served as the Secretary of the Colombo District Committee. He served as a member of Parliament as well.
