Emergency hotline introduced to lodge complaints on faulty gas cylinders
An emergency hotline was introduced by the litro gas company to enable consumers to notify issues of gas cylinders issued by them. The public can dial 1311 to lodge complaints or safety concerns.
The move was taken as there were reports of several gas cylinder explosions that were reported across the country in recent days. According to the police, 16 such explosions reported from various parts of the country so far.
The company said in a public notice that the recent incidents and "confusion that have occurred have been caused by the use of inferior quality regulators, hosers, cookers and user negligence,"
Meanwhile, the state authorities including Moratuwa University are scheduled to hand over experts’ reports regarding the gas explosions to the Consumer Affairs Authority at 12.00 noon today.
