The Officers of the Excise Narcotics Bureau today (2) detected 25,000 grams of cannabis at Sella- Kataragama following an operation launched following a tip-off made by the general public.
The officials who took part in the operation said that they found three individuals transporting cannabis by using a three-wheeler.
The Commissioner Excise (Legal enforcement) as well as the Media spokesperson for the Department Kapila Kumarasinghe said that the three individuals have fled while the excise officers attempted to arrest them.
“ yet the officers were able to detain the three-wheeler and 25,000 grams of cannabis worth over Rs 875,000”, he said.
Mr Kumarasinghe elaborated that they have already identified one of the three suspects and have planned to notify Thissamaharama magistrate courts on March 3, 2021.
Apart from that further investigations are carried out by Excise Narcotics Bureau under the direction of its superintendent Samantha Kostha
