Fake business to sell lightning conductor to Ukraine busted
A fake business to sell a lightning conductor to Ukraine at an exorbitant price has been busted with the arrest of nine persons by the Nuwara Eliya police.
They allegedly claimed that they could sell a lightning conductor for more than Rs 1000 million to a person in Ukraine and collected up to 10.3 million from the persons interested in the deal.
The group had shown the same picture to different people and entered into agreements with them and a man posing off as a lawyer had entered into the agreement.
They had collected half a million each from the victims.
Police spokesman SSP Nihal Thalduwa said people need to be cautious when such high prices are offered.
