Litro Chairman to be removed over LPG crisis

News

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd Chairman Theshara Jayasinghe is to be removed from his post following requests to resign from a powerful minister and a state minister and mounting public pressure demanding his removal for his inability to tackle the LP gas crisis, informed sources divulged

However there was no official confirmation from the Presidential Secretariat or the Finance Ministry as this matter is under consideration at the top level of the government.

Minister Johnston Fernando and State Minister Nimal Lansa have made public statements demanding the resignation of Litro Chairman claiming that chairmen of institutions should not make a mockery of their positions.

They noted that people are queuing up since there is no gas to buy and cylinders with gas explode as soon as the seal of the cylinder is removed.

SLPP Administrative Secretary Renuka Perera is tipped to be appointed as the next Chairman of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd. He served as the Chairman of National Housing Development Authority for some time under the present regime. (Bandula)
