Ministry of Highways removes chairmen. directors of state institutions

The Ministry of Highways has taken immediate action to remove several heads of institutions and subsidiaries coming under the ministry with immediate effect, Ministry sources said on Monday.

This directive has been issued by Minister Johnston Fernando following the President’s order of transforming every state institution to be more productive to overcome the present economic crisis.

Accordingly the Minister has asked chairmen and members of boards of directors of Maga Neguma Road Construction Equipment Company, Road Development Authority, Maga Neguma Consultancy & Project Management Services Company (Pvt.) Ltd and Express way Transport Company Ltd to resign.

Minister Johnston Fernando was unavailable for comment on this decision as officials said he was attending urgent meetings. (Bandula)
