Nearly 50 persons have been affected after strong winds that came with heavy rain caused severe damage to houses and property in the Karachchi area in Kilinochchi yesterday, the District Disaster Management Centre (DMC) office stated.
Strong winds tore off roofing sheets and uprooted trees in two villages. One woman was seriously injured after a roofing sheet torn off by the wind fell on her head.
