No intention to return as Governor at CBSL: Ex Governor Dr Coomaraswamy
Former Central Bank Governor Indrajit Coomaraswamy today dismissed rumours that he will return to the post he left in November 2019 and replace incumbent Governor Nandalal Weerasinghe.
"I have no intention at all of returning to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka," he told the Sunday Times.
"In my view, Dr Nandalal Weerasinghe is doing an extremely good job in dire circumstances," he said.
"He is a highly experienced Central Banker who is the ideal person to deal with the current crisis."
Reports are circulating on social media and other websites that Dr Weerasinghe is to be replaced and that Dr Coomaraswamy is tipped to take over. There have been no official overtures in this regard.
