The Treasury has directed all state departments, ministries and state owned enterprises that state funds should not be used for functions including parties for officials who are retiring from service.
The move follows information that several functions were being organized for senior officers retiring from service next month at state expenses.
Treasury Secretary Mahinda Siriwardena has issued a circular cautioning officials about misuse of state funds.
