Colombo Chief Magistrate Buddhika Sri Ragala today rejected the bail application by the software engineer of Epic Lanka Technologies who was arrested in connection with National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA)’s data loss.
The Magistrate announced that releasing the suspect on bail will affect ongoing investigations and ordered to be remanded till October 18.
The suspect, Pramod Dilupa Ramanyake was taken into questioning by the Criminal Investigation Department on September 28. During interrogations, it has been revealed that the suspect was involved in erasing data from the database and used his personal computer to carry out the cybercrime.
