The Kandy police have dispatched special teams of officers to investigate into the circulation of fake news regarding the vaccination via social media apps.
The Police media spokesman Senior Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana said that a Medical Officer of Medico Legal Kandy Hospital lodged a complaint with Kandy Police in respect of fake news regarding the Moderna vaccine.
According to the complaint, fake news was being circulated via social media apps, and since this vaccine is being given out to people of Kandy at present, the circulation of misinformation would affect the confidence of the Kandy people and lead to a refusal of the vaccination.
