A rush to secure positions as Chairpersons and Directors to Corporations, Statutory Organisations and State-owned companies has promoted the President to appoint a Committee to make the appointments.
Accordingly, a three-member Committee has been appointed to study the recommendations to be appointed to the post.
The President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake has appointed to a circular on the directives.
This follows after observations were made that written requests have been made from the President from time to time to change positions of Chairman and director posts.
The Committee will be headed by Secretary to the President and will include Secretary to the Prime Minister and Secretary to the Cabinet.
Additional Secretary to the President Chaminda Kularatne will serve as the Secretary. The Ministry Secretaries have been told to give justifiable reasons and submit details of nominees for Chairpersons and Directors to Corporations, Statutory Organisations and State-owned companies.
