The Jaffna magistrate courts today granted bail to a Student Union leader of Jaffna University who has been allegedly to involved in last week violent incident at the university.
Thankeswaran Sisitharan presented himself at the courts this morning following a statement given by one of the injured student who has been admitted to Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
Appearing on Behalf of the Student leader, TNA parliamentarian M. A. Sumanthiran said there has been no evidence submitted to the courts by the police that he engaged in violence and he informed the magistrate that he was attacked by other students whom he knew them very well.
Jaffna Magistrate Sinnathurai Satheeswaran instructed the student leader to cooperate in the ongoing investigations and released him under two personal bails worth Rs 200,000 each.
