President Maithripala Sirisena today (Jun 26) said that the death penalty will be implemented for four inmates in the near future.
He made these remarks during a meeting with heads of media institutions this morning.
During the meeting, the President noted that he has already signed the documents to implement the death penalty.
The implementation of the death penalty would end Sri Lanka's 43-year moratorium on capital punishment in the country.
