Sri Lanka recorded two wins and two losses at the Yonex Dutch Open which began today at the Topsport Centre in Almere, Netherlands.
The wins were recorded by Kavidi Sirimannage, who won the opening game in the Women's Singles and later in the Mixed Doubles, partnering with Sachin Dias.
Sirimannage beat India's Shruthika Senthil in straight sets, 21-5 and 21-7 in the Women's Singles Round of 32 game and later partnering Dias, the duo beat India's Rohan Kapoor and Sanjana Santosh in a three-setter that was won by the Sri Lankan Mixed Doubles pair by 21-12, 17-21 and 21-17 in the Round of 32.
Sirimannage and Dias will meet Sweden's Rasmus Espersen and Christine Busch in the Mixed Doubles Round of 16.
In her Women's Singles Round of 16 game, Sirimannage lost to India's Keyura Mopati in straight sets 13-21 and 12-21.
Buwaneka Goonethilleka lost his Men's Singles Round opf 32 game to Yanis Gaudin of France by 2-1, with the scores of 13-21, 21-13 and 17-21.
With her Women's Doubles partner Thilini Hendahewa pulling out of the tour due to COVID-19, Sirimannage had to concede another walkover to Netherlands pair Alyssa Tirtosentono and Imke Van Der Aar.
Ukraine's Anna Mikhalkova received a walkover against Hendahewa in the Women's Singles Round of 32.
The Sri Lankans will be action again when Sachin Dias and Buwaneka Goonethilleka taking on Malaysians Jun Yan NG and Tien Ci Wong in the Men's Doubles.
The tournament ends on Sunday (17).
