Cricket: SLC releases FTP of Sri Lanka Men’s team for 2022

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) released the Future Tour Programme (FTP) of the Sri Lanka men's team on Wednesday (5), with a list of nine tours and series included for the year 2022.

"Sri Lanka national men's team's year 2022 international cricketing calendar will commence in January with an ODI series against Zimbabwe at home, whilst it will be followed by the team touring Australia, India, and Bangladesh," the press release issued by SLC stated.

The Australian national team is expected to arrive in Sri Lanka for a cricketing series during June and July 2022, followed by Pakistan, before Sri Lanka hosts the T20i ACC Asia Cup during August and September later this year.

Following the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka will head to Australia to take part in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022.

Sri Lanka will wrap up its heavy international cricketing calendar for 2022 with a tour to India, but the formats to be played are still under discussion.

"The heavy international cricketing calendar of the Sri Lankan team for the year 2022 is going to give our fans a lot of excitement and fun. If we can successfully complete the planned cricketing calendar, it will give a tremendous boost to the game in Sri Lanka, an opportunity for our players to display their talents on the world stage, and also valuable exposure for our partners," said Ashley de Silva, the CEO of SLC.
