Football: Sri Lanka Under-19 girls leave for Dhaka

The Sri Lanka Under-19 girls' football team will leave for Dhaka, Bangladesh on Saturday (11) to take part in the South Asian Federation Under-19 Championship. 

The Sri Lankan contingent includes 23 players and nine officials while the captaincy of the team has been handed over to W.M.K. Imesha of Visakha Vidyalaya. 

Sri Lanka was not represented in the 2018 version of the tournament and the team appears at this regional competition after a lapse of three years. 

Most of the players in the squad are from the outstations and Maliyadeva Girls' School, Kurunegala has contributed with five out of the total of 23.

Mahajana College, Jaffna has four players in the squad while three players from Bandiwewa Maha Vidyalaya, Jaffna have entered the squad.

Sri Lanka will play against India on Monday (13), against Nepal on Wednesday (15), against Bangladesh on Sunday (19). 

The tournament features five teams and ends on December 22 with the final.
