The United National Party led by its leader Ranil Wickremesinghe held a Sathayagraha campaign at Hyde Park Colombo against the rising cost of living, gas and fuel shortages. Police and protestors clashed close to the residence of President Gotabaya Rajapaka on March 31. Over 50 persons were injured in the clashes. Catholic priest led by Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith held a silent protest march from the Archbishop's House in Borella to the Borella junction. Holding placards they called for immediate government attention on the concerns of the public.
